AUTISM SCHOOLS & OUTPATIENT THERAPY

At Nehemiah's Place™, we believe that not every child will be able to adapt to a traditional learning environment. We would like to share several accredited schools that provide academics and therapy for children with challenges in their home school. Nehemiah's Place does not ENDORSE any of the following organizations.

The Learning Spectrum (Canal Winchester, Ohio)

At The Learning Spectrum (TLS), we understand that every child learns differently, feels differently, and reacts differently. We adapt our curriculum, intervention, therapies and teaching styles to meet the needs of each individual child, no matter where they are on the autism spectrum.  Our goal is to help each child reach his or her full potential, and live a productive, independent life.

Since our first TLS location opened in 2005, the need for our services has grown exponentially. We are proud to have served hundreds of students with autism and related disorders in our four locations in Central Ohio, and we’ve reached even more through our inclusion therapy services in local private schools throughout the community. Most recently, we have added a Behavior Department and started providing 1:1/ABA (Applied Behavior Analysis) as well as Creative Arts and Sibling and Parent Support Groups.

New Story Schools (Ohio, Pennsylvania & Virginia)

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy is a scientifically-based, evidence-informed approach to understanding and changing behavior. It uses principles of learning and behavior modification to improve specific skills and reduce challenging behaviors.

Key Principles of ABA Therapy:

  • Positive Reinforcement: Encouraging and rewarding desired behaviors.
  • Discrete Trial Training (DTT): Breaking down skills into small, manageable steps and providing structured practice.
  • Pivotal Response Treatment (PRT): Focusing on key behaviors that can lead to broader improvements in other areas.
  • Natural Environment Teaching (NET): Incorporating therapy into everyday routines and activities.

Benefits of ABA Therapy:

  • Improves social, communication, and daily living skills.
  • Reduces challenging behaviors, such as self-stimulation or aggression.
  • Enhances cognitive abilities and academic performance.
  • Promotes independence and self-sufficiency.
