Getting your child tested for autism

Your child's future matters to us!

Getting your child tested is the first step in the right direction. The sooner they can be diagnosed, the better care and assistance they will have as they develop. Receiving a diagnosis involves assessments and clinical evaluations that are conducted and examined by a licensed specialist. Information provided throughout testing are compiled and examined. The information is then examined against the DSM, which is a handbook used by psychologists, psychiatrists, and other mental health professionals to identify and diagnose mental health conditions.

There are several areas in the Greater Columbus Area that conduct autism testing. In some instances you will need a referral from your child's pediatrician to get the process started. Schedule an appointment and make of list of behaviors, situations and interactions you've observed about your child's behavior and that because of these, you would like to get them tested.

Nationwide Children's Behavioral Health (Children Only)

It is important to have early and continuous surveillance and screening for ASD to ensure that children are identified and receive access to services as early as possible. The sooner ASD is identified, the sooner an intervention program can start. With early and intensive interventions, children with autism can make remarkable progress in all areas.
